Repair Technician


Job purpose

The Repair Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing defective products and providing technical support over the phone and through email. They are also responsible for accurately checking in and handling inbound and outbound repairs.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assembling products using drills, hand tools and soldering irons
  • Provide technical information on Gallagher products and diagnose Gallagher product issues, both hardware and software, to customer base, wholesale & retail via phone or email
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • This position requires creativity in problem solving and generation of innovative ideas including a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Must have great customer service and be able to answer phone calls and emails in a timely manner
  • Good common sense, work habits, and dedication to company success. Must be able to work well with interruptions and be able to multitask efficiently. 
  • Prepares repair to be accomplished by verbal/written assembly instructions, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring component level/board level outputs using multimeters, volt meters, and various computer programs.
  • Properly identify and report issues with new products through internal product failure reports.
  • Participate in monthly training and service calls with our global team.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by properly allocating all parts used for the repair.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Light warehouse duties, sorting incoming repairs, unpacking repairs, packing outbound repairs, and organizing incoming repairs.
  • Utilizing SAP to keep track of repair quotes and sales orders as well as inventory. 
  • Follow-up with customers on pending repairs, receive payment, coordinates shipping, or disposal within reasonable periods.
  • Contacts dealers and end users with any charges and technical results descriptions, confirms payment, shipping, and warranty information as required.
  • Use of power supplies, tools, multi-Meters, and other electronic repair tools/equipment.
  • Including any other duties not specified that may be required to complete the role, and as requested by the Reporting Manager.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous repair, customer service and warehousing experience 
  • Basic knowledge of electronics
  • Soldering
  • Experience with basic tools
  • Must be able to safely use a utility knife, pallet jack, hand truck, or carts as needed
  • Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team

Physical requirements

  • Stand/Walk for Shift Duration
  • Close vision, color vision, good depth perception, and the ability to focus the eyes on detailed circuitry
  • Must be able to lift and bend up to 90% of daily work hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely use a utility knife, pallet jack, hand truck, or carts as needed.
